In the summer of 2018, I began a project called “The Library of Ancient Glazes”, the concept for a book of glaze recipes for potters based on the chemistry of ancient Chinese and Korean Glazes. After four years of balancing formulae, adapting them to melt at a lower temperature in an electric kiln and some three thousand tests later, I have a collection of one hundred and fifty relatively inexpensive functional cone 6 glaze recipes.

The task now is to write the book, complete the photographic documentation, secure permissions and get it published.

I must also make a living. Images and discussion of the work that goes into that aspect of my studio work will be posted on a weekly basis.
