I mostly worked off camera on the two large heads this week. Just a few images taken as I finished them up.
With so many things going on, I wanted to work freely in the spaces between my other commitments. It isn’t that I am that conscious of the cameras and therefore less productive. Not at all. It’s just that I end up needing one or two days to sort and process the week’s images. Basically, that means weekends at the computer and not the studio. Wanted to put that time into getting these waxes finished instead. Time is short to get these done. I am now ready to commit these two models to moulds.
Aside from anything else these might be, they have to be good ‘pots’. They need to stand up to firing. I made the ears thick enough to be hollow cast. This will make them much stronger and less prone to shifting than single walled ears would be.
Though not really part of the formal project, completing these two heads is a good rehearsal for the five furry figure heads. This pair, especially in this last push, are teaching me to see more clearly. I think the coming furry heads will benefit from this side project.
The moulds for these will be big and challenging. My goal is to have them done by next week.
