Over the course of the week, I assembled a burgeoning metropolis of open forms. Days alternated between slip casting on the one and removing the forms from the moulds on the other. There are ninety nine assorted copies of the eighteen models in this round. Plenty of opportunities for glaze exploration.

Nothing much is drying in the studio space. The open forms from last post still hadn’t changed colour by the weekend, let alone the newly cast copies. Moulds and greenware alike had to be dried in the sun.

The sand and other debris on the screen shown in the images is a good illustration of why casting slip should be sieved. That much contamination would certainly have flawed the final product.

It took a day and a half to get all the feet and lid connections sanded for the fired forms from last week. Felt good putting the modular set out at Stoneware Gallery.

My next side project is to develop an online catalogue of the individual modules. I still think a glaze to order idea is the way to go. Also considering a printed brochure to accompany display.

Bisque firing later this week once all the forms are cleaned up and dry. Another day in the sun should do it for the stragglers. Then back to glazing and firing. Sights set on new glaze possibilities.
