I knew by the time I finished writing the modular story that I was not going to be throwing on the wheel any time soon. Writing things down set my priorities. I can only glaze-to-order if I have the stock. Otherwise I will miss out on the holiday season.

I started slip casting right after putting out the printed materials at Stoneware Gallery. That gave my ‘week’ a couple of extra days. Made it about a third of the way through casting all the moulds twice.

Have I had all the modular moulds on the worktable at once before? They make quite the imposing mound. Eighty three in total. Finding storage is definitely out of the question. My back hurts just thinking about it. Better to use them where they are and then let them go.

From time to time people ask “Who takes the pictures of me working?”. I’ve cropped a detail from the top of the mould pile of the camera that I use most. It’s a Narrative Clip I. It takes an image every ten seconds. Note the custom mount.

More slip casting and greenware cleaning this week but a little less time to do it in. I will be happy if I get through casting the rest of the second go round. I am doing hand building workshops on Friday as part of a teachers’ conference. Coil building with templates. A lot of fun for sure but will take me away from my studio work for a couple days with the prep time.
