Long days in the studio have been replaced by long days drawing on the tablet. Other concerns fade away in favour of moving the stylus over the surface of the glass. It is the first thing I want to do when I get up in the morning and the last thing I am doing before going to bed.
All the while, I think about what I will be making in the studio. I see wheel thrown mugs, bowls and other dishes tattooed with these and other images. Some with the laser toner decals over the glaze like the mugs from last week. Some where the laser toner images have been printed on paper and used as an underglaze transfer against the wet clay. These would be hand coloured after bisque firing. Some with square images printed in China paint. These will allow me to reinvent my classic tableware pattern. I can see it all now. I just have to generate the images to make it happen.
2017 marks the fortieth anniversary since my first pottery class. I still feel like I am just getting started.
