Once the build up is complete, the moulding process begins. The plaster and water are weighed, given time to ‘slake’ and then mixed by hand. I prefer the quiet contemplation of stirring by hand over the noise of power drills.
I do more surface clean up in the plaster and less in the build up than some. It is always better to remove the model both for clean up and so that the entire first side of the plaster can be soaped. There are fewer problems that way.
