It took a few days to get the space ready to make moulds again. After failing to find any boards I liked at the hardware store, I had the idea to make the cottles I needed out of UHMW plastic.

I bought some strips of UHMW years ago thinking it would make nice ribs and extruder dyes. It proved more difficult to shape than I imagined and has been sitting around ever since. Turns out that it makes wonderful cottles. Maybe the best rigid material I’ve used for that purpose. So much better than particle board. Had enough for three sets.

Tried pouring as many as three moulds in one go. That ended up taking longer. I found that by focussing on a single model, it is possible to get one of these moulds done in about an hour. Still ironing out some of the kinks if you noticed that bottle of glue.

Some of modular components will need multiple copies of the mould, others not so many. Maybe fifty or so moulds altogether. More than enough to keep me busy for the next couple weeks.
