The glaze surgery performed last week payed off. No evidence left of the encrusted black. Some glaze bleeding as expected when re-firing.
The contrasting surfaces of the rosy pink tell a story. The smooth and shiny can give way to orange peel on an edge or an entire panel. Outgassing. The perils of mixing encapsulated cadmium stains with other colorants. The decals work over either surface.
My warmest thank you to all those who came out to make the 40th anniversary celebration at Stoneware Gallery such a huge success. It was gratifying to see so many people who were enthusiastic about pottery all in one place. It made me feel optimistic about our collective future as potters.
