The kiln load I was waiting to see last week was a mixed bag of results.

The mugs were a disappointment. The cobalt free grey scale can be pretty dreary on a larger surface. Left them in the kiln to deal with later.

The polymer gradation of the cobalt free black was green after all. Only the higher concentrations, 2% plus, are brown.

The tumblers were a revelation. The cobalt free with the other greys with the earthy yellow is dazzling. They gave me visions of the next round of mugs. Want to take these combinations further before sharing.

Most of the week was spent transitioning the studio from glazing to throwing. Days were spent cleaning and organizing. Not done yet.

The weather was right to recycle some of the dry scraps of porcelain that built up over the winter. Slip poured on a plaster bat in the morning can be wedge able clay by the afternoon when there is warm sunshine involved. Hoping to do more of that this week.

Finished off the week by starting the new batch of mugs. It’s good to be throwing again.
