“Steel Cut” is the name I have given this group of glazes. I couldn’t resist using a set of six Steel Cut White mugs from the last glaze firing to try the Staffordshire Cat decals on. I was curious to see how the random noise would affect the printed images.
What the experience of the decal firing really did was get me thinking about how to design better mugs to put them on. More to follow in the coming weeks.
About thirty squat mugs made it into the one glaze firing. The results were excellent. There is one from each colour group in this shuffle of mugshots.
Already back to throwing. Tumblers this week. Subtle explorations of the cylindrical cup form without the commitment of a handle. Good for honing the skills and always nice for cold drinks.
