Rather than use a scale, I lay the pugs on the cutting matt and cut into even segments. I halve those sections and then pack them into balls to throw with. The amount of porcelain I could consistently centre, about 135 grams, made bigger cups than I imagined. In fact, each time I went down in scale I seemed to get more volume out of what remained.

I got closer to my ideal with these. The amount of trimming needed was minimal. With a little more practice…

I have more than enough tumblers of assorted sizes now to start glazing again. First I need to get them bisque fired. So begins a new week.
